Two friends and I went from Vienna to Prague Main Railwaystation via FlixBus. I was looking for a hostel in New Town, south of Prague Old Town. The Ragtime hostel was in terms of price and location the best opportunity for us.
It is situated in a region 15min walk from the Main Railwaystation where are many taverns with delicious, bohemian food and the well known czech beer. If you book "Ragtime", you have to know, that it is administered by Hostel-Emma 500m away from the actual location. You can either ring the bell which is connected to the reception and somebody will come or you go to the Hostel and check in there. The "Ragtime" is a flat with a kitchen and 4 rooms and common bathroom. From outside you wouldn't expect it to be a nice place since the front door is terribly spray-painted. Just next to it is a nice Cafe and the waiter seems not to be very satisfied with people comming and thinking it's the reception of the Ragtime. "We have nothing to do with them!" he said.
After a while the guy with the keys came and we checked in. The rooms are very clean and well lit, beds are comfortable enough, there are towels, the bathroom has a tub and is also clean. All in all it was very satisfying. You will be asked to pay a deposit of EUR 10,- for the key.
The second reason it was good located, is that at the back of the building is the tramstation for Number 22 and 24, which bring you to the Eden Arena, where we watched the Iron Maiden open air concert. On the very spot is also an ATM and a tobacconist where you can aquire tramtickets.
The guy who gave us the keys was friendly and gave us good advice concerning where to eat breakfast and how to get to the Eden Arena etc. He really could answer all our stupid questions.

The hostel is located within walking distance to the Narodni Trida metro(yellow line) in Prague 1. For the money you pay, this is as good as it gets this close to the city center. The hostel is within walking distance to almost every sight of attraction in Prague. It might be a little difficult to find the entrance at first but it's the one right infront of the chapel. It has graffiti on the wall and quite hard to miss. Remember that there is no check-in counter here. Check-in needs to be done at hostel Emma which is like 400m away from Ragtime. Finding hostel Emma can be a little difficult since it is located in the corner of a narrow alley. Remember that you need to checkin after 2 because most rooms are occupied and needs to be cleaned after their occupant check out.
The manager Peter was really helpful and he showed us all the sights of attraction in Prague and the easiest way to reach them. You can call him for anything and ask for help/advice. The shared toilet was clean but one thing you have to remember is that you can't hog the toilet like at home or in a hotel room. Connecting to Wifi can be a little tricky as well but once connected it works fine.

This hostel was extremely good value for money. Don't be put off my the graffitied door as it was very nice and spacious inside. The bathroom was huge and in VERY good and clean condition. The beds were also very comfortable and there were blinds to keep the light out. However, it was quite noisy at night as there are a few bars etc on the same street. Also our room looked liked it had previously been broken in to - the door frame was cracked and nailed back together, but it could have been anything! There is a shared kitchen and fridge for guests so those on a budget can eat there after buying something from the supermarket. Overall a very good location - less than a 10 minute walk from the Charles Bridge. Free wifi.

Good location, but sadly there were not enough toilets for the rooms and the toilets were not as clean. We arrived late in the night which wasn't a problem although there is no reception directly at the hostel. All in all we enjoyed our stay, the price was a big plus!

I'm not sure I consider Ragtime a hostel given that its more like an apartment with rooms and no reception. The rooms were OK and seemed clean until I found a couple of hairs on the sheets before we had even slept on them.. Also, you cant shower with hot water all the time because it runs out after one or two people have showered.

Our stay at Ragtime hostel was very good, everything was fine, especially for the very favourable price. Concerning the shared bathrooms, it would be better for the hostel and future guests if they were separated. It would be much better if every room had a personal bathroom, even a smaller one.

The very first impression the hostel made was not the best one but then it turned out there's more to it than meets the eye. Location was perfect - short walking distance from the city center. And you didn't even have to go to the city center to get a great beer and soak up the atmosphere of jazz pubs as they were all around. The room we booked was spacious and clean, same for kitchen and bathroom. And the Staff is helpful, speaks perfect English.Would definitely recommend the hostel

Liked: It likes a B&B rather than a hostel. I lived at the end of the corridor on the third floor. No elevator is provided. The apartment had three rooms with a big big big toilet and a clear kitchen (good for having lunch or dinner). The twin room is quite small. Ragtime has the good facilities (a nice kitchen and toilet) and the good location with a reasonable price.

Disliked: It seems a little dangerous for the street. Therefore, we went back to hostel early everyday.

Liked: it was near to city center and in a quiet region of Prag which is perfect for slleeping. Room and bathroom was so clean. Kichen has every stuff you may need for cooking.

Disliked: The room was a little big and it causes a heating problem but it was acceptable.
